Why use purchase orders
A PO records exactly what you ordered, at what price and by when. When the goods and the supplier's invoice arrive, you can match all three before paying — the simplest defence against billing errors.

Frequently asked questions
Is a purchase order the same as an invoice?
No. The buyer issues a PO to place an order; the supplier issues an invoice to charge for what was supplied.
Should a PO include GST?
Including GST shows the full expected cost. Your supplier's tax invoice decides the final tax charged.
