LPA explained
Salaries in India are often quoted in LPA — lakh per annum. 6 LPA is ₹6,00,000 a year, or ₹50,000 a month before deductions. CTC figures in LPA include components not paid monthly, so use the CTC to In-Hand Salary Calculator for take-home pay.
Worked example
₹45,000 a month, 6-day week, 8-hour days
- Annual = 45,000 × 12 = ₹5,40,000
- Per day = 5,40,000 ÷ 312 = ₹1,730.77
- Per hour = ₹216.35
₹5.4 lakh a year
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?
Multiply by hours per day, days per week and 52 weeks. ₹500 an hour × 8 × 5 × 52 = ₹10,40,000 a year.
Is annual salary the same as CTC?
Not necessarily. CTC can include employer PF, gratuity, insurance and variable pay. Annual gross salary is usually lower.
